1. Cooking Rice

 

1) Measure out 3 cups of rice for three.
2) Pour the rice into a pot.
3) To rinse the rice, Put some water in the pot.
4) Stir the water with your fingers.
5) Pour off the water to get rid of the dirt and husks.
6) Measure out 6 cups of clean water and pour it into the pot.
7) Put a lid on the pot, and put it on the stove to heat the water.
8) Turn down the flame when the water starts to boil.

2. Frying An Egg

1) Turn on the gas.

5) Crack an egg into the pan.

7) The egg start to fry.

3. Making a Salad

1) Rinse some lettuce with the running water.
2) Drain it.
3) Rinse some tomatoes and cucumber.
4) Slice them with a knife on a cutting board.
5) Mix the lettuce and cucumber in a salad bowl.
6) Lay the tomato slices on top.

4. Making Coffee

1) Boil some water using a coffee pot.
2) Put some coffee into the cup.
3) Fill the cup with boiling water.
4) Stir the coffee.
4) Add some sugar and cream if you want.
5) Stir the coffee again.

5. Making Tea

1) Boil some water in a teakettle.
2) Put the strainer over the teacup.
3) Add some tea leaves in the strainer.
4) Pour the hot water into a teacup.
5) The tea leaves soak in the water.
6) After some time take the strainer out of the cup.
7) The color of the water turns yellowish green.

6. Making Paechu Kimchi(Chinese Cabbage Kimchi)

1) Cut 2 cabbages in half lengthwise.
2) Make a brine with 10 cups of water and 1 cup salt.
3) Soak the cabbages into the brine.
4) When the cabbages are well-soaked,
rinse them thoroughly in the cold water and drain them.
5) Cut one-third of the radish into thin strips.
6) Mix the red pepper powder with the salted shrimp juice.
7) Add some mixture to the radish strips and mix them well.
8) Add the ingredients and season with salt.
9) Pack the seasoned mixture between each leaf of the wilted cabbages
10) Cut the remaining radish into large pieces and mix them
with the seasoned mixture.
11) Place the stuffed cabbages and radish pieces in a large earthenware jar.

lettuce : 상추 radish : 무 drain : 물기를 제거하다
wilted: 기운이 시들어진 earthenware jar : 옹기

7. Cooking Bean-Sprouts Soup

1) Thinly slice the beef.
2) Cook it in the soy sauce and sesame oil until its color
changes.
3) Add 1 cup water and the bean sprouts and simmer it
until it gets tender.
4) Add 6 cups of water and the sesame salt
5) Boil it for 10 minutes.
6) Cut the onions into a 2-3cm-long pieces and mix them with
the eggs.
7) Put the mixture into the soup.
8) Check the seasoning
* simmer : 끓이다 sesame oil : 참기름
onion : 양파 soy sauce : 간장

8. Cooking Pulgogi

1) Cut the beef into thin slices.
2) Prepare soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, sesame salt,
black pepper, green onions, finely-chopped garlic ginger,
and some rice wine.
3) Mix all of them and marinate the beef in the mixed ingre-
dients for half an hour.
4) Broil the meat on the grill over charcoal, oven-broiler, or
hot plate
5) Add some salt over the beef while cooking
* marinate : 양념액에 담그다 ingredient : 양념
finely-chopped : 잘게 자른 broil : (석쇠로) 굽다

9. Setting a Table

1) Put the plate in the center of the placemat.
2) Fold the napkin.
3) Put the napkin to the left of the plate.
4) Place the knife to the right of the plate.
5) Put the teaspoon to the right of the knife.
6) Put the fork on the left-hand side of the plate,
on the top of the napkin.
7) Set the glass near the tip of the knife.

10. Watching TV

1) Pick up the remote for the TV.
2) Turn the TV on.
3) A show is on.
4) Use the remote to change the channel.
5) Turn up the volume to hear better.
6) Turn the Tv off when the program ends.

11. Watching a Video Tape

1) Rent a video tape from a video store.
2) Take the tape out of the case.
3) Turn on the TV and the VCR.
4) Switch to the video setting with a remote.
5) Load the video tape into the VTR.
6) Start the tape with a remote.
7) Pause it while you go to the bathroom.
8) Rewind the tape to see something again.
9) Sto the tape at the end of the video.
10) Rewind the tape and eject it.
11) Return it to the store.

12. Cleaning A House

1) Pick up the things lying around and put them back
in the right place.
2) Dust the table and sofas.
3) Use the vacuum cleaner or the broom to clean the floor
or the carpet.
(Vacuum the floor or the carpet / sweep the floor)
4) Put some garbage into the wastebasket.
5) Put the vacuum cleaner or the broom back in their places.

13. Going to Bed

1) Go to your bedroom.
2) Turn on the light.
3) Take off your sweater, pants, and socks.

4) Turn the crank with your right hand.
5) Keep turning the crank until the pencil is sharp.
6) Take the pencil out of the pencil sharpener.
7) Look to see if it is sharp.

1) Pick up the telephone receiver.

4).Listen for the dial tone, a continuous sound.

4) Insert the card into the slot on the ATM.

23. Playing Yutnori

1) Make 4 Yut wooden sticks flat on one side, and round
on the other.
2) Make a scoreboard with black dots, 2 sets of 4 markers.
3) Toss the Yut sticks and determine who starts.
4) The player toss the sticks upward and decide
how far he/she can go with a tossing.
5) If you have one flat side ('To' 도), you can move your
marker (말) one step forward.
You can move 2 steps with 2 flats('Ke'개), 3 steps
with 3 flats ('Kul'걸) 4 steps with 4 flats('Yut'윷), and
5 steps with 5 rounds('Mo'모).
6) With 4 flats or 5 rounds, you can have another chance
to throw the sticks.
7) If the marker stops on the dot-in-circle, it can move
in shortcut.
8) If the marker moves to the dot where another marker of
his, he can move the markers together.
9) If your marker stops on the dot on which the other
team's marker is, you can remove the other team's marker
to make it start from the beginning and at the same time
you can have one more chance to toss the sticks.
10) The player who brings all of his markers(말) back home
earlier wins the game.
11) Before the game starts, you can decide how many markers
each team may have. With more markers to move back
home it'll take longer to finish the game.

1) Fold the paper in half with the folded edge up.
2) Fold the paper in half from left to right.
3) Unfold the paper once, leaving a line down the center and
a fold at the top.
